History

Starting as a family owned business in 1932 Borri showed huge potential and growth. After its de-merger from Eaton Power in 2005 Borri began to put itself on the international stage again with the setup of Borri Ltd in the UK. Borri hopes that its history can prove inspiring for the coming years ahead.

In the early life of Borri limited, the electrical market was our main focus.

The market at this time as many was rather stagnant due to the Second World War, however Borri remained strong.

Pictured here to the right is one of Borri's best selling machines of the era, which many large Italian companies used to control the power on site.

1950's - End of the Electrical MarketTop

During this decade, Borri began to have stronger competition from a number of markets. With the growing trend in the use of electrical devices, the power control and conversion market began to grow.

Over time Borri spotted this trend and decided to diversify into a new market, with a similar product.

Over time this move allowed Borri to grow to the global entity they are today.

In the 1960's Borri Italy began their movement into the market of Power Conversion. This move started small with the production of a small number of Rectifiers.

These rectifiers varied with 3 voltage sizes, the 12V, the 24V and the 48V for more powerful applications.

1970's - Creation of InvertersTop

In the 1970's Borri remained in the power conversion market, and improved their product range with the first design of DC/AC Inverters.

The DC/AC Inverters were designed to have both Thyristor and Ferroresonant technology.

Both of these technologies at the time were groundbreaking, giving Borri a large edge on the electronics market.

1980's - Borri takes advantage of the I.T. BoomTop

In the early 1980's, the world began to see the start of a revolution, the creation of the computer. Borri took this opportunity to diversify their company portfolio, moving into the I.T. industry and for the first time selling commercial Uninterruptible Power Supplies. Alongside this Borri had a number of new products launched in this decade including the PWM Transistor Inverters.

Individual Milestone

In 1990 the Borri brand was sold by the Borri family, to the US Holding company General Signal. The company General Signal was also incorporated to Best Power.

1990's - Technological AdvancementTop

In the 1990's the I.T. market growth reached incredible levels, including the growth of the internet and digital storage of data. As the I.T. market grew so did the need for Uninterruptible Power Supplies and the size of its market. While the I.T. boom carried on, so did the advancement of UPS technology.

Transformerless architecture was introduced which is otherwise known as an Uninterruptible Power Supply without a transformer. This makes the UPS lighter, more cost effective and much more efficient. Full sine-wave technology (PFC) was also introduced, as this is more generator friendly and more efficient as the flow of power is much more consistent. This can be seen with the B9000 and B8000 series.

2000 to Present day - Borri GlobalTop

In June 2009 Borri merged with the now UK arm of Borri S.p.A, AEC Power Control Ltd. This merger allowed Borri to setup a number of connections worldwide, which in time will further boost the companies global competitiveness.

Borri through their main distributors and resellers operate directly on 5 continents, showing the power of the Borri brand. Borri plan further expansions, hoping to reach a number of currently untouched areas in terms of Power Management and Continuity.
